Mr. Crepe

The crepe is a very thin pancake made from wheat flour originating from France. The crepe itself is more like a vehicle for a variety of savory and sweet fillings. I love crepes in general so it doesn't really matter if it is filled with Nutella or ham and cheese. In my mind, a good creperie must serve a variety of both savory as well as sweet crepes. A great place that serves both sweet and savory crepes is Mr. Crepe in the heart of Davis Square, Somerville. Mr. Crepe serves a large variety of sweet and savory crepes. You can even create your own crepe which is great for people who cannot decide what they want in their crepe. The prices at Mr. Crepe are more than $5 but you get a huge crepe which is well worth the price. I sampled a sweet crepe filled with Nutella spread, fresh strawberries, and sliced banana which was more like a dessert than anything else. I ordered for myself two savory crepes. One was filled with smoked turkey, cranberry sauce, and brie cheese. The other was a BLT but inside a crepe. The crepe filled with smoked turkey tasted like a turkey sandwich you would prepare the day after Thanksgiving with all of the fixings. The BLT crepe was an interesting interpretation on the classic BLT. The fillings that Mr. Crepe uses are delicious, but the fillings are only as good as the actual crepe they make. The crepes that Mr. Crepe serves are made to order. They with a crispy exterior with a fluffy and light interior. The combination of excellent crepe with quality ingredients makes Mr. Crepe a must for any crepe enthusiast in the Boston area. Right in the heart of David Square, Mr. Crepe is extremely easy to get to. If you are an adventurous eater like myself, Mr. Crepe is a restaurant that you should try.
