Nothing is better than having a dozen raw oysters to wet your appetite. Oysters are unique in that they come with their own sauce. Yes they might be served with hot sauce, cocktail sauce, or mignonette sauce, but the liquor in the oyster itself is the sauce nature intended. There is nothing else quite like a raw oyster. Lucky for me there is an oyster bar and seafood restaurant right around the corner from where my sister lives in Logan Circle, Washington D.C. Pearl Dive Oyster Palace focuses on southern preparations of seafood. Menu items include a large selection of raw oysters, a Po-Boy sandwich with fried oysters or shrimp, barbecued shrimp, seafood gumbo, etouffee, and a large variety of cooked oyster preparations. For the oyster aficionado, the raw oysters are the way to go. If you are squeamish about eating raw oysters, there are plenty of cooked oyster dishes for you to try. The oyster P-Boy sandwich is definitely worth a try if you like fried oysters. For a more modern preparation, try the grilled oysters with garlic, red chili butter, and gremolata. Pearl Dive is also pretty good for happy hour with half price beers, $5 wines, 2 for 1 oysters, and other food specials. For great southern inspired seafood and some damn fresh oysters in DC, Pearl Dive Oyster Palace is the spot.
